Hey Greg, I should go easier on drummers! I had a look and listen to your link and it is excellent! Big kudo's to the March of Dimes support as well. For a drummer, you're ok!

Lol. Thanks. I like the drums the most, and i'm primarily a drummer, but I play several instruments.

Make fun of drummers? No problem, I'm a bassist.

Make fun of bassists? No problem, I'm a guitarist.

Make fun of guitarists? No problem, I'm a drummer.

Make fun of singers? I'm with ya there.

yep. that's the best part of all of this.

Hey, time to draw a line in the sand. Vocals are the most important part of a song, and singing is a true art form!

By the way:

Q: How do you tell when your lead singer is at the door?
A: He can't find the key and doesn't know when to come in.

Q: How many lead singers does it take to change a light bulb?
A: One. He holds the bulb while the world revolves around him.

Q: What's the inscription on dead blues-singers tombstones?
A: "I didn't wake up this morning..."

Q: How many lead singers does it take to change a light bulb?
A: None. Get the drummer to do it.

Opera is when a guy gets stabbed in the back and, instead of bleeding, he sings.
:laughings:

Superior drummer is excellent, I got in quite a good deal and just use the kit that came with it....the only thing is that it can seem a little empty sometimes..

Its amazingly realistic to my ears but it just doesnt fill the track...when I play the same generic midi files with Abbey Roads 70s kit its like it misses load of subtle hits the NI one doesnt..

To the OP, any of the drum programmes mentioned are pretty realistic sounding, use the midi files to help you learn how to programme...Ive found a pad trigger (mpd24) invaluable compared to using a keyboard, theirs a few to choose from...

That being said I had a listen to Gregs drum files recently and its amazing how much fuller a sound they have when put together, harder to mix but definitely what's missing in my software...that being said drum kits are just not an option and I have enough practise to go on strings and keys...I hope Im not a singer...

on reflection, Im definitely not :)

alright so now i have ezdrummer with just the included kit for now i guess. im running it through ableton live and using MIDI from a Akai MPK25. Thanks guys.

The included kit is great. When you are looking for new sounds, I suggest the Nashville kit. It has surprisingly good sounds (don't let the name fool you).

I mentioned Groove monkey above. Download their free pack of midi to give you a bunch more patterns.

Good choice and good luck!

You can always get your tracks the way you like them and send them
to a drummer to record the drums for you.
I love to play to others peoples songs.
The last two i recieved, i wish i could post for you, one from a guitartist (so called)
and the other from a bassist, (again so-called), were so far out of time i sent
them both back and explained what a metronome was.
p.s. I don't beat my drums, I play them.
How many sounds can your drummer get out of his snare.

I refuse to program in drum beats or try to trigger them with a keyboard or pad so I bought an electronic kit and taught myself to play.

Could you get midi-to-usb adapter and run that out from an electronic kit to your computer to control software like EZDrummer?

Right now I just record the sound the module creates so I cant have each drum sound on a different track, which is what i want to do, plus the sounds arent too great.

The controller for an electronic kit is just a midi controller like a keyboard, except what triggers the midi is drum hits instead of keys. You can certainly use this to trigger EZ Drummer or any other drum program. By setting up each drum on a different midi channel, you can have each drum tracked seperately.

What e-drums do you have? Chances are it already feeds midi into your computer and there is no need for a midi-usb adapter. What that actually is is a midi interface, like an audio interface, but for connecting midi to a computer. An example would be:

I would record a real kit but I just dont have the room. I bought a oxygen 8 midi keyboard controller and it came with Reason Adapted, which is a stripped down version of Reason. It has a drum section called redrum and it also has alot of synth stuff. I still use it mainly for making click tracks. IF your going the software route I would try out some basic level stuff to get your feet wet.

But I would surely use a real kit if I could.
