Well i was listening to phish and admiring their beautiful drum sounds .. and just overall recordings and mixes and it inspired me to tune my kit up similar and set up some mics. and i think my results are pretty good. when i did this perticular test there was no tom mics on.. we adjusted mics quite a bit and i like what i got but i want a second ear on them. Not really mixed to perfection or anything. i did a tiny EQ adjustment to the kick and changed a few levels but thats it. Let me know what you think.

OH by the way i forgot to list my equipment:

Overheads: Oktava MK012-01's
Snare: Shure SM-57
Kick: Audix D6

when i do mic the toms i think im gonna use some more 57's

Then these run to a Behringer MX3282 (take it easy dont kill me) then to a tascam FW-1804

that link takes me to the frontpage of soundclick, and there's apparently a re-direct.

What am I doing wrong?

Also, what is the name of the song I'll be listening to if I find it?

Wow! You come a long way in a short time!

The snare is way loud, but the overall mix is nice and clear and very little mud.

Great job. :D

hey thanks man.. yeah i did alot of reading and have gotten alot of help on here and i think the thing that worked bes for me was jsut experimenting with things. But anyways thanks for the advice on the snare.. im not sure if im 100% pleased with the snare sound yet, itsok but its too thin i think.

Sounds pretty good to me. The snare is way too loud, but thats nothing. Good natural sound overall. :)

thank you, thank you

i guess i need to turn that snare down.. lol

I agree the snare was loud but often thats the #1 piece in a mix so..

I didn't hear before or after, but it sounds pretty good.

whats the micing arrangment? types etc..

the kick mic is about halfway in and off axis

the snare is real close on the edge of the top head (like .5in-1in)

Overheads are about 2-3 feet above the throne and the mics are about 6-12in apart and both at about a 30 degree angle.. ill take a picture when i get out of school and post it.

Hi

I like the sound. There is a bit of leakage comming from the electric guitar on one of the mics (probably the one recording the snare).
