What do you guys do to edit the sounds of your drums (compression, gate, etc..)?

Even if i've recorded them properly i still compress slightly. Personally i hate all gates. HATE! EQ i avoid if i can but then i cut rather than boost with drums. Thats about it...i think.

a bit of cutting with the EQ here and there. and a bit of compression. I should tune my drums more regularly, would make everything sound so much nicer....

Generally, a little lit of EQ on the kick & snare for click and snap. I like to then also assign the kick, snare and toms to a subgroup as well as the main stereo buss and send that subgroup out to a compressor and step on it hard. I bring that back as a stereo pair to two new channels and bring it up under the existing drum mix to thicken it up.
