drum mics besides SM57's

anyone have any suggestions for mics on larger toms, a kick, or a low tuned loose snare?

i have SM57's, but am wondering if there are better options for around the same price. I also don't have a descent kick mic.

this is my first post!

i think for that price range, an Apex 125 can't be beat; I have recently been using one instead of my audix d-6 and my d112. Definately gives you a decent rock tone.
 
MD-421 Sennheisers are great. You can find them used pretty reasonable if you do some searching. they are versatile as hell and damn near indestructible.
