Ive been looking into making my own drum loops. I have a decent library of loops on my computer. But I want to make my own drum loops so I can get the exact beat that i want. I saw Thomas Haake's Drumkit from hell cd's but what program would i use to map my own loops with that? I have Home Studio 2004, and Acid Pro 4.0, And someone told me about Steinberg Groove agent. But im totally clueless.

And buying a nice keyboard is financially out of the question. But i still want my triton extreme ;)

Groove agent is pretty cool - you won't need a keyboard and you won't need to map anything out. It runs as a VST in your program and plays set to your tempo. It has various beats/kits set on a dial kind of thing. You can download a demo of it to see if you like it.

I use Drums on Demand drum loops, and I like them a lot. I tried mapping my own patterns and stuff but never really got into it - I'm definately not a drummer.

Go here: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/2/feelslikefridaymusic.htm and listen to the song "Something Better" and you can hear the Drums on Demand loops in action.

Cool! BTW what program did you use to map patterns? I'm a drummer so I shouldn't have any problems with it.

Fruity loops

I use Fruity Loops to create my drums with - I use Hal Leanord one-shot samples - at the same time I usually create the "basic" bass line in FL and some synths as sratch ideas - and export the whole thing one track at a time into cakewalk (kicks into a kick track - bass to a bass track etc.etc.) then I start adding other insturments and replacing some of the synths with guitar or better sounding synth tracks and record a real bass line to replace the crappy synth one ect etc. in cakewalk i start adding reverb and eq and compression to the drums to make them feel more acoustic - it works ok for me - but i often tell myself that i would like to replace the drums someday with a real drummer.

All you need is a midi sequencer to map the beats out on and drumkit from hell will give you the sounds.
