We're working on our new song, Hurry, Children (I wanna see), and I'm once again painfully reminded of the drum deficiency plaguing our small home-bound band. 2 year old Sophie has come a long way on the skins, but still can't reach the foot pedals, and so I slorped in a pad-triggered midi drum track (gad.. my fingers got tired - how do you all manage to use sticks and stuff?). Here's a rough draft of the song:
Still working on most of it, but I figure this is a good time reach out for help on the drum issue. I'm looking for something similar in feel to the midi track, but with less suckfulness. We really want the drums to come in when they do in the mp3 (kind of late), and we think want something identical or very similar to the kick drum intro, and we like general snare-fill approach. Other than that, not much guidance, except that it's important not to bury the rhythm guitar - sparse is good.
Beggars can't be choosers?
Anyway, if you're a collabbing drummer type, and that doesn't sound too picky, and you've got some time on your hands, I could send you whatever mix/project file you need and perhaps you could send me a nice drum track?
Any comments on the (admittedly early stage) mix, song, etc. would be great, too.
