We've talked about the Dr-5, and I've seen some stuff about the Zoom RT-123, but wonder if anyone else has any other thoughts about a good drumass machine.

The ability to carry the MR-8 around the house has me thinking about creating my backing tracks away from the computer, as well. One feature that would be helpful, would be the ability to control the unit "real time" for live perfomance - such as looping sections, or jumping around to different sections without gltiching. (My biggest problem with playing with 'canned' backing tracks is the lack of flexibility when the singer gets lost!)

Thanks for any thoughts - (I have some football playoff winnings and am itching to hit Guitar Center!)

wish I knew where to start with that one. Get a new singer:)

The ZOOM 123

I have the ZOOM 123 and it's sounds great -- bass and drums. I haven't nearly got into it yet, but you can see the manual on-line and figure out if it matches your needs. It seems awfully capable, and, as I say, the sounds are excellent.

I could get a 123 used, so I was looking that way. The 323 doesn't seem to do much more.

Clif - I know what you mean, but even when we had a six piece band, the singer would do stuff different every time! I'm constantly amazed that the industry hasn't come out with a more flexible back machine. We did Reba McEntire's"Fancy" one night and the singer just blanked. That song has a structure like a Rush tune, so in about two bars we were all standing there stunned until something in the backing got her back on track - absolutely horrifying.

It's really a simple requirement - jump to any section, or loop any section, yet no one has come out with such a product (that I've found).
