Drum alignment aticle

I was reading the latest "Recording" Mag and came across a facinating article on time alignment when mixing your drum tracks. Delaying the snare to match the overheads. It was very staight forward and informative, I can't wait to try it out.

Anyone read this article with anything to add?
 
By new do you mean the August 2005? I skimmed through it and didn't see what you were talking about.
 
It's a common technique. It can help if you have phasing issues between the two. Lately I've just been leaving it alone unless I notice something. The alignment isn't really as straight forward as you might think, since correcting phasing issues at one frequency can create new ones in another band. It's always best to just use your ears, IMHO.
