Driver problems with sonar 6

I have just installed sonar 6 on my new laptop and the program won't recognize any audio driver. I installed an old version of sonar 4 that I have and I have the same problem. The driver that I have is realtec high def audio and it says its working properly. I'm thinking I might just buy an external soundcard/interface, maybe a tascam or something but I would really like to know whats going on with my original soundcard. Any suggestions?
 
Try setting your driver mode to MME (under Tools | Audio Options | Advanced | Driver Mode). It's like the lowest common denominator for sound cards that don't support WDM and don't have an ASIO driver.

You could also try the http://www.asio4all.com/ driver
 
Thanks deshead, I just did what you suggested and my driver is at least showing up in the drivers list in audio options. I don't have a microphone on hand to see if it works but at least I'm getting somewhere it seems.
