Recording Mag has a good article on the DP01, and a glimpse at the new one with CDR. pretty slick...$800 pricey for a CDR tho.
DP01 is really well done, and it has the EQ Knobs and Pan Knobs, very nice.
other option:
I just bought a closeout DVD-R and CD-R with SPDIF IN/OUT for ~$100(with rebate) at Ratshack closeout. Standalone and DVD's!
This would work too for a non-pc CDR, if you don't need to save track files.
I have the 2488 and rarely if ever copy all of the track files, maybe done it once.
Also at this point I can't hear a difference in 24bit and 16bit either....ymmv...
