Any thoughts on a VST that does some of the above to fatten up vocals? Or suggestions on parameter settings to use w a chorus effect? I found a "detune" vst that isn't bad. I'm not sure what other effect will raise & lower pitch slightly?

I do some "real-time doubling", ie sing the part twice. The results are mixed...
Thanks!!

Also if anyone's interested I use the detune vst with an expander called Wide boy for bkup vocals. I think it sounds good

paresh,

My voice isn't very good, and I don't sing well enough to double without it sounding like a totally different person, so here is what I have been trying. Take the best recording of the voice you have, cut and paste, or mix down to a different track, and apply some delay, 20-40ms maybe. Then eq it slightly differently than the first one, or detyne it a bit. See how this sounds. And maybe pan one a little left, and the other a little right. If the vocal still sounds wimpy, maybe try another track. I read a post where some guy doing rap was told to do 5 voices, and layer them like a pyramid.

Anyway, hope this gives you some help.

I had one band come in that was a tough session - the singer was terrible. In addition to really flexing the autotune, I needed to thicken things up a bit. I stuck a mono delay as an insert (I use Cubase) and adjusted dry/wet mix to taste. Anywhere between 20-40ms seemed to thicken things up...
