Since I'm still new to this, I'm having a hard time getting my drums "just right". I have the ns_kit7 & Armegeddon kit. I play mainly cheesy 80's thrash metal like Destruction & Kreator.

What I need is decent acoustic .wav samples of double bass drums at different speeds so I can really get this thing going! Some really nice ride cymbals at various speeds would be nice to. I'm working on piecing them together myself but I'm getting really fustrated!!!!

Any suggestions?

I was going to post this in the drums section, but that seemed like it was for people with real drum kits!

I think you will be happy if you get: Drumkit From Hell (the original version--not DFH2 or Superior)

It comes with 2 cds... one has audio loops but they are not .wav files--its CD Audio so you need a good CD ripper to extract them as .wav files... once you do you can use them and loop them in cool edit...

However, the real use for these is with midi files... with inexpesive software like n-track and DFH you can make very realistic sounding drums--especially for metal....

Here is a link for DFH, costs 99.95 $:

Here is a link for N-Track Studio, costs $45 (or if you need 24 bit, $69) :

Using Cakewalk sonar would be even better... though its expensive...

Good luck:

PS I like Kreator they are not cheesy! 80s metal rules... I grew up in that time... from 8 to 18... good years...

i'm using the synth drum sounds on my alesis. just listened to dfh demo and was blown away. a bit flustered by the ".wav mapping" i'd have to do to get a kit or two into my 8 mb flashcard for use in synth...but my computer can't handle battery for example. how can i use dfh with midi? as a plug-in? easy to assign key hits to drum sounds?

thanks tons--

What? A buncha guys with less than 15 posts show up and turn the forum into an advertising page? No, I don't think so...

First, stop it.

Next, don't do it again.

Finally, if you've got some Cool Edit stuff to talk about, stick around. But using this forum as a marketing venue is not on.

Couldn't you use a singe bd hit and just program in 32nd notes or whatever you wanted to set it at?

i actually got some of the beta monkey loops and they are nice Although in cool edit they stay in the red (they dont distort though??)

Hey Nik D,
What do you mean by "program in"? I have CEP2K - so I'm droppin' & draggin' a gazillion little waveforms!! Am I missing something???

On a single track it ends up sounding like one retarted bass drum looped for a friggin rave dance on speed! I even tried using 2 tracks - alternating the bass drum patern - still no good.

Are you using another program for drums??

That looked like a question, lol...so I'll throw this in. Hitting the red doesn't necessarily mean clipping...it just means "0db" - From my experience with other programs, CEP's meters are set just a little bit hotter than other programs (maybe +0.2 db). All versions have been this way since at least 1.2a. Personally, I think it's kind of an idiotproof feature to make SURE you don't clip. So in short, usually hitting the red just means "0db," but in CEP's case, it might actually mean "hitting -.2db". Like you said, they're not distorting...that's all that matters. Ears mean more than meters :D

yeah thats what i figured cause they dont do it in soundforge. i think my main problem it that i have become to dependent on the level indicators

drums

r u programming the drums??????? im playing them into ce using a roland spd-11 with external triggers , i have a mp7000 kik practice pad (Virgil Donati used 1) which enables me to use a single or double pedal depending on the style,,,, havent had any problems with the double kik parts and the pad has alot of flexability when it comes to creating ur own patches!!!!!

I use fruityloops with midi to my keyboard. I then record my drum loops in fruityloops then mix down to a high quality wav and insert it into CEP. IT works really well and I usually always get the results I am looking for. Check out fruityloops site, they have a free demo of there software. Give it a try!
