you're my competition...ha

Not a bad sound there fenix, i'd be charging a little more than $10 per/hr.

If I were you, I'd charge at least $35 an hour. I had a Roto Rooter type outfit come to snake my pipes out. They spend about 30 minutes and charged me $120 bucks. The only equipment they owned was a truck and a rooter machine. The combined IQ of the pair who did the work was around 100 and their social skills were nada. You are offering a service based on your experience, intellect and investment in your gear. If you're good, $35 an hour will seem like a deal to most people.

The name of the game is service. If you strive for excellence and can deliver high quality, there is no reason not to charge a fair rate. To me, $35 an hour is not high if the quality is first rate.

A short story--I know two guitarists who teach. One makes $14 a lesson in a guitar store and he's incredible. The other makes $50 an hour going to your home. He's OK. What he does offer is respect to his students, rapport with parents and an image. He wears a suit and tie and drives a Mercedes. Moral? Its how you market yourself and who you market yourself to.

Good advice, crawdad. If I ever start recording people who aren't my friends, I'll probably start charging higher. For now, I'm thinking a $100-$125 flat rate will do for this project. Especially since it's a first for me, they're my buds, and they aren't particularly wealthy.
