sounds like a good sound.. i second the mrs. crow vocals.

the theme rythm might be a tab overused, but im sure if there were variations with the themes it would carry the listener.

have an eagles swing to it.. which i like :)

cool tune.. I think you can do alot with it!

Geez, it took so long to load that I accidently read half the comments....I'll try to take a fresh approach.
Sounds killer right off the bat!

I think people expect too much out of a song sometimes.
This has good sonics, a great laidback feel and ....some slight sillaban...well you already know that.

I don't think her phrasing is horrible...oh..the word THIS is too loud on one line... She has a very nice voice.

How long is this thing?

Ok...the ending. I think it needs a bit of a solution and it will be fine. I don't know, maybe a little chordal backup and a strumout...

Ya know?

Good work.

This is really a pretty clean mix. I did hear the loud 'This' and was gonna say something and then saw somebody else did, so anyway.

I loved the song, the singer has a good, strong, pleasant, alto voice. The song seems to be in a good comfort zone for her singing. The only negative thing I would say is it is a tad long. but I loved the guitars and the feel of the song.

Wonderful job!

I'm kinda weird about the whole internet collaboration thing because I'd hate for somebody to go through all that trouble and then I'd come back and say "That was great but..."
You really oughtta' get over this one, lol. 99% of the people who I've worked with via internet have either:
1) asked me to redo something; or
2) asked me if THEY could redo something; or
3) been asked to redo something.

It's no big deal, though...just another take. And if it's not right for the song, people usually realize it mutually.

DavidK probably sent me a total of 15 string tracks over the course of recording 2 tunes; and it just kept getting better. If it had sucked, well...lol...it wouldn't be in there. :D

COLLABS RULE...DO THEM, AND DO THEM OFTEN!!

(yeah, joro & mbuster ...I'm working on it, I'm working on it, lol)

i like the verses but i don't really care for the chorus...doesn't do anything for me.

the ending is cool.

"Dan- Every song should have some mando. Is there any chance of you heading out west over the next couple of months? (We have the Cactus Baseball League all summer!) We are finally working on the album for that tune you helped out on and I'd love to record you on a few songs for it. I'm kinda weird about the whole internet collaboration thing because I'd hate for somebody to go through all that trouble and then I'd come back and say "That was great but..."

If I wasn't scared of flying I'd be there. And the collab thing is no biggie either. I get that with all my tunz. "that was great but..." he he he he he he he

Does she really sing: "I sit on your face"? I hope so. It would make the song special. :)

She has the right voice for it, that's for sure....you should let her sing French porn music, man!

I have no real opinion on the music, didn't tickle me I'm afraid. :) Or her voice tickled the wrong thing...sorry.....LOL

Does she read all these responses btw? :o

Thanks everyone for the comments and suggestions. I think some harmonies and a little variation would help alot also.

JR- That was all recorded on the Radar and mixed through the Ghost. I wouldn't put this up as a great example of the gear though. I'm working on an album with the guy who performed those other two songs you listened to and it should be pretty decent. I've got a pretty good rock band scheduled to come in this weekend so that should be fun.

Pedullist- As far as I know she has no knowledge of this forum so I hope not. I've dissed her more than anyone else but that's what big brothers are for :D

I've always been a big fan of Cowboy Junkies, Sheryl Crow, etc so I'm trying to mold her into those types of styles. We'll see how it goes. I'd like to find a more upbeat original song but no luck so far.

Maybe I'll hit some of you up for some tracks afterall.

I think the tune is definitly worth finishing. Sis' has a hot voice!

<(c;

She did sound a little uncomfortable or aprehensive or something- prob'ly stuff that would be easily kicked after gettin' used to the song a little more. I think some kind of melodic variations on the "take me out tonight" chorus' (or is that chorii -hmmm) would add something. Maybe harmonies - yeah I could hear a two or three part real nicely in there. Just a thought.

Anyway she's got me convinced, when can I take her out :D Yup, not bad at all.

I liked the song and the vocals. Song was pretty edgy (in a good way) for being so laid back. I like your guitar playing and don't care that it was out of tune. It sounds like the Velvet Underground self titled album - and they sure didn't play in tune.

Vocals might have been over compressed. Had sort of that am radio sound to them once in a while. (If you didn't use compression then I guess she just sounds like an am radio at times).

Hi Tex,

Definitly dosn't suck.
Her voice sounds real good.

I think it would have sounded better with the guitars reversed, doubled acoustic panned wide, and the electric picking/strumming mono one on each side.
Either that,or acoustic panned like she's playing it,with the electrics seperated mono L&R.
Sounds like too much electric guitar going on.

Could use a little piano riff or two in there also.
Just sounds like it's missing something for a country tune.
JMHOP:)

I like the song itself, has a lot of potential.
Looking foward to the next take!

Pete

with the odd phrasing, this might be a hit of its own accord. It`s not complicated, has a decent message, and hangs in your head after you walk off from it that you can whistle. This cut might not be the one you want to work with though. She`s got a neat and different sounding voice. Give her two 16 oz glasses of a good wine and she`ll relax and get in the groove on it a lil better. The vocal was doing some peakin in places, relaxing would probably help that too. Your rythymn was darned good and the tones on the instruments too, but please, tune them a little tighter. :)

Thanks for listening.

You guys hit all hit on the restrained vocal performance and I think it's pretty obvious to. She didn't have much rehearsal time and me yelling at here to get it right probably didn't help j/k. I think she could nail it now after rehearsing a little more. I had her sing it a bunch of different ways and comped the parts I liked and that accounts for the inconsistency. I'd like to have her relearn the song now knowing a little better what I was going for.

Muze- The acoustic is dead center like she is playing it and the electrics are mono tracks panned pretty wide ;)

Just for the record the guitar is not out of tune and the intonation is fine. I quadruple checked it after listening to some stuff that sounded weird. It is completely my shitty technique and too light of strings. I've haven't done much lead guitar playing and it was never an issue on strummed chords.

I agree the arrangement is lacking something. I'd like to get some real drums in there and see if that makes the difference. I was thinking a B3 part might work well.

Ooops, that's what happens when your deaf in one ear and can't see out da other!:D

Sorry it took me so long to check this out.

I love the intimate sound of this, the singer is awesome!

this most absolutely DOES NOT SUCK!!!

The only thing I didn't like was the ending.

I think the electrics may have been a little loud. The vocal seemed a little dry in the mix, but she was so good I didn't care.

Really sounds like the band is together. I'm on my third listen :) that accoustic is great, f*&K i could go on...

k, I just read the thread up close and I want to make something perfectly clear,

I think this song kicks ass, like all over the place.

It did sound better on my crappy headphones than on my crappy computer speakers, maybe because the headphones have a more limited freq response and bring out the mids more?

For what it's worth, you stopped me in my tracks tonite.
