It's Too Funky in Here!!!
Does this look like a 1/4" halftrack headstack, or quarter track?

To me, it looks like a halftrack headstack. That's a good deal for cheap!;)

It also has the the words; Po?s, auto reverse, hand written.

The heads looked stacked or staggered too...perhaps a play head for each direction but no erase head?

Weird!

Cheers! :)

Would there be a combo head (record/erase)? I'm not sure what that black area is on the right-most head.

Chaching!!!

Yeah, I didn't see it at first. On top of the headstack it says "possible auto reverse". Maybe it's Ghost who saw the tracks may be staggered?

Honestly, I can't tell for sure from this picture!;)

Yeah, now I see that too! The far right head is apparently a record/erase head? Look at the elements! jjones scores!;)

I think that weird black box shape on the erase/record head, ( and I'm not at all sure that's accurate?), is a foil sensor for the auto reverse to kick in.

In any event, the ebay seller calling this a TASCAM/TEAC assembly is highly questionable.

Cheers! :)

It’s a TEAC headblock, most likely from an A-2500 since it’s a bi-directional model that uses those heads.

The headblock is upside down in the pic.

The two play heads are part number 5066904000
The funny looking head on the right is a combo Erase/Record head, part number 5066341000

:)

Wow,... you guys rule!
