take full advantage of quad core processors
because i bought a new quadcore processor with my sx 2 installed and it was slower than my dual core, would let me even run the project, bit bummed
it cost 220 pounds and is slower...
thanks in advanced

No, it does not. Cubase 5 does. Not sure about 4.

?

Scaled fine across my 4 cores, as does C4

From Steinberg:

"Steinberg's Cubase SX3 and Nuendo 3 software workstations both feature Steinberg’s Advanced Dynamic Multiprocessing technology. This allocates processing tasks dynamically to ensure the most efficient use of all available CPU resources. Steinberg's multi-core processor support harnesses the full potential not only of dual-core processors, but supports any number of physical processors or processor cores, allocating processing tasks dynamically between them."

Yeah, I guess it does "officially" support them. I just ran across a ton of posts saying that it didn't actually work worth a crap though.

Make sure multicore is enabled in Cubase.

It works fine. Dont believe everything you read.

LOL. Yeah you're right, but with Steinbergs reputation, I tend to believe the users groups.... ;)

Anyway, Cubase 5 supports them just fine, and is WELL worth the upgrade from SX3 - especially if you are frustrated with the routing limitations in SX3.......

I tell you what i am fed up of
the crashes, but i am happy with the results im getting so i think 5 is the way to go
Thanks for the input!

I had a heck of a time with projects crashing, and then refusing to open up again. I learned to back up CPR files like mad. So far, 5 is a bit more stable, and opens all the files SX3 stopped opening. Also, so far, the couple time it bjorked on me, the file opened back up without any errors.

Plus, the routing is 1000X better, and Variaudio is the shiznet! :D

Thats good to hear!
hopefully i can find some money! the price keeps going up and they keep chucking instruments i dont want, kinda annoying.
who knows
