Where i can find decent specs on a soundcraft 24 multitrack console... its for a project for school... the stuff they have on the soundcraft site isnt very specific to how many tracks it has an i need at least a 24 track...

Say what? I dont get it. You need 24 tracks? From a mixer? Please expand...

my assignment is to take an analog, digital or digitally controlled console 24 channels at least and then explain how interacts with another analog, digital tape or non linear digital multitrack recorder that also has to be at least 24 channels...

does that make more sense? sorry if i mixed things up, this is why im at school. Not to mix things up but to understand how to talk about it and how to use these things.

walters, is that you?

jk :D

I think you're getting channels and tracks thrown into the same terminology, which some machines have a combination like the TASCAM 2488 or 388, but what your assignment sounds like you are looking for info on is a 24 channel mixing console and a 24 track recorder. Soundcraft will give you information on 24 channel boards they manufacture, but I don't think they manufacture multi-track recorders. For multi-track recorders look at something like OTARI or Studer on ebay for tape machines, or Alesis or Mackie for stand-alone 24 track digital machines. And then there is the whole PC/MAC/software option. Anyway, this should at least start you in the right direction. I use a Mackie 24.8 bus 24 channel board with an Alesis HD24 24 track stand-alone recorder, so if you have any specific questions, I'll try to answer them.

Usually the number of channels is in the name of the mixer and the Specifications.

you should quit school if you can't figure out how to find specs on gear off a website..hahah jk

but honestly i have no idea what you are asking.

and NO WAY am i quiting school... i love this course... im just a total nub about this stuff, although not when it actually comes to DAW's and the rackmount gear i have now... i'm just totally lost when it comes to consoles... and haven't ever used a multi track recorder before. so much gear... so little time!

i also looked at the soundcraft website... got a couple of pdf files off it but its like 200 pages long... and seeing im a first term student alot of that info just makes me  anyways thats enough of this post.. BUT! i'll be back!
