DOD Series II Quad Noise Gate...Should i???

Can anyone tell me what this gate is like???
I've been told the quality is good.
Theres one at my local music shop around my price range.

EVEry music store I visit ALWAYS has any and all DOD gear at the discount portion of the store in the back, near the Behringer mixers!
Never used them but the construcion is poorly made as buttons and pot's tend to break off after a short period of time.

Might I add that the RNC is one the most transparent and cleanest comps on the market and at $179 is an excellent bargain!

Around $200 -$300 USD.

I've got my recording device and reasonable mics this is my next step.

There are gates Comp/gates and comps i dont know wether to get a dual pupose thing or just a dedicated unit for each.

I'm not sure i need a comp just yet (i can use Cubase or somthing later?) but i think i need a good noise gate for drums especially,should bring my recordings up a notch?

I was also thinking of one of those Aural Exiters with the big bottom....worth it at this stage you think?
