Do you think the PLEK system at Gibson is good?

I am quite aware of how they work, It came from Gibson oriented in the "Correct" way that it was slotted, okay? However the slots are at inconsistent depths, yielding many strings that buzz and others that are high. Do you understand now?
I've understood all along. You've got it on backwards. :laughings:

They only go one way when they are already slotted, especially in a 12 string (different size slots). Even on a 6 string the slot is not always dead center, so reversing it would throw off string spacing.

Can't now, you editied your post. Well played, troll. :)

Go ahead, try to explain why my statement is incorrect. The only thing that was edited was "It only goes one way" which in this circumstance is still true.

To rePete, It came from Gibson that way. It is their bad slotting job.
They PLEK 'em with the strings on? Maybe Joe Bob in Nashville had a bad day and put the bridge on backwards. Maybe Joe Bob just wanted to fuck with someone. Which way do the adjusting screws face?

Okay one more time. The bridge is on correctly, the slots for the bigger strings are on the correct side, okay, are you with me? Whether they PLEK them with the strings on is not the point, it was done incorrectly. Also if they PLEK them with the strings on, then how come the last bridge they sent me is already slotted?

Man, you should call 'em, obviously you need them strings, wtf are they thinking? :)

Well that's embarrassing. Take yer guitar to a tech.

I was told by Roger Ball at Gibson that it was, and that is why the last bridge he sent was already slotted.
Think about how the PLEK system works and what it does. It carves and cuts fixed points with a CNC "dumb" system. Everything done is in relation to a fixed reference. Now tell me how that's gonna work on an adjustable component.

The PLEK system is great. Gibson QC mostly sucks - better in the Custom shop. VP don't know half what he thinks he does.

How about an answer on which way yer bridge adjustment screws face?

Man, I was beginning to think VP had somehow developed some credibility since I left. Glad all's right in the world after all. :D

Anyway, Lou's right. One, Gibson is using the PLEK machine wrong (it's designed to be used under string tension, and they're not), and two, they're evidently looking at it as an alternative to a human setup rather than a compliment. And I too would be curious about that bridge alignment. A badly cut nut would be one thing, but the bridge could very well be user error.

Maybe you should ask Roger Ball

PS. I had to refile my nut slots also, they were inconsistent too. The slots had red ink all over them from the PLEK system.
