Fist...of...Death....

Oh, forget it!

Die, bastard!!!!!

:D

Whenever anyone plays that desert island game (what would you take with you), I have to say a stratocaster. I may have a different answer that I spew out at the time, but if I thought about it for any length of time, the answer I'd come up with is an electric guitar.

And 100 packs of strings.

And a pair of pliers.

and a satellite phone.

my job ....... he he ... i have my dream job ..... realy ...... and some days i play guitar all day at work ....... or i will go to the local music stores and play guitar all day ............... and when i actualy do some work here it will always be w/ one of the 24 antique corvette's here .... somedays i will take one out for a while ...... just to make sure it can still smoke the tires in all gears ......... he he ........... aint i a stinker

GRRR--I didn't need to hear that, I will surely be cursing you tomorrow as I'm laboring away~~:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

But you don't get to record, does ya? Being a stay-at-home dad has it's advantages too. I can jam whenever-whatever, guitar, drums, and if a certain something pops in my head I just walk over to the old computer and record it. Then if I find myself low on creativeness I can lay down and take a nap.

Can you drink booze on the job?:p

It doesn't pay cash though.:o

he he

i can record if i want to bring all the recording crap to work ..... i do do some work here ..... today i need to rebuild a fuel pump on a verry early vette ....... maby fine tune the carbs ...... and i get paid verry well for what i do ....... truely a dream job ...... the big boss owns a factory ... his passion is vintage vette's ... i restore and mantain the collection ..... or jam w/ the boss's son all day ........ i am verry lucky ...... verry lucky ....... great pay . full benefits .... have 2 of my own vettes here ...... no cant drink here .. thats ok w/ me ..... i dont drink

I thought my dream job......giving bikini waxes to Playboy bunnies....was cool, but now I have to re-think this whole thing:confused:

I'm an Afro American but still I can control my urges. I get 'antsy' if I go too long without the electric getfiddle. But "jonesing" is something I DO NOT DO. I'm not a walking, talking stereotype.

Was that a racist remark?

Sir, I always CRAVE to play my guitar while being away from it for a few days. But simply because I'm black doesn't mean I "JONES" whatsoever. Gimme a break.

what does 'jones' mean in this case? I've never heard the expression..

OK, but what does 'jonesing' mean actually? Craving? And why is it racist? I really am curious, I've never heard of the expression before (and for good reason, by the sounds of it).

you still haven't explained why you think 'jonesing' is a racist remark? ...at least not in the circle of people i run with. i call bs.

I think our Spin Doc's being overly sensitive. Anyway, not an expression I'll be using in a hurry, sounds kind of awkward.

The exact origin of this word meaning an overwhelming yen or craving is unknown. It obviously refers to the name Jones, but exactly how it developed is uncertain. The 1962 edition of Maurer and Vogel’s Narcotics and Narcotic Addiction glosses it as:

Jones. A drug habit.

Claude Brown’s 1965 Manchild In the Promised Land uses it to mean the symptoms of heroin withdrawal:

My jones is on me...something terrible. I feel so sick.

By 1970, it had generalized into any desire or yearning. From Clarence Major’s Dictionary of Afro-American Slang from that year:

Jones: a fixation;...compulsive attachment.

The slang sense "intense desire, addiction" (1968) probably arose from earlier use of Jones as a synonym for "heroin," presumably from the proper name, but the connection, if any, is obscure.

Spin Doctor is either yanking everyone's chain, or is WAAAAY over-sensitive. By the way, Spin Doctor, I believe "Afro-American" is considered inappropriate, and fell out of common usage about 30 years ago. If you are gonna police racial terms here, start with yourself.

Strings

by Adam Marshall

On steel I may glide,
like a blade on ice.
A welcome resistance on my fingertips
accompanies all sounds imaginable.

Wood vibrates mellow,
humming with tone.
Melodies dance as rhythm wavers
to whatever pulse I desire.

In years, I'll still be here,
hunched having halted.
For inspiration doesn't strike
like the constant tide on shores.

I'll will sit scouring,
torturing my brain and hands.
My fingers may bleed
but to no avail.

In years I can search deeper,
as experience brings skill.
For now I can only travel so far
into the endless realm of sound.

But it does not impair me,
knowing I can't get there.
It enlightens me, enthralls me,
knowing,
there is so much further to go.
