Yep . . . gun day all right. I hit 1.22, up from the 1.17 of the other day.

Just to jump on the aussie internet whinge bandwagon - you guys have got it good. I'm less than an hour out of Bris, bush block, and i've got no landline in here. My connection is all wireless 3g/HSDPA - my connection is glitchy at best, but i still download files to listen to here. Sometimes streaming from soundcloud etc just won't work for me, it's all pretty frustrating, even if a 1st world problem. Slightly better than the dial up i had 20 years ago but not much. Even when i was closer to town on cable i think the highest i ever saw was 1.5 Mbps download.

Yeah, but you guys get those really big beer cans. In America we have to walk around drinking 12-ouncers like we lost a war or something! :)

I don't care either way really. Every now and then I hear something great on here and like to add it to my HR Download Folder. Getting an mp3 right off the bat makes it easier.

If it is someone I know (a few old HR.comr's that just won't upload) or a tune that I am interested in, I'll go through the hassle of downloading it but definitely prefer for it to be hosted elsewhere and a clickable link to stream it.

Not only the hassle of downloading, saving and then opening but also the risk of the mp3 having a trojan horse virus that the user is or isn't aware of.

IMO not cool to expect people who don't know you to bring your files into their computer so they can critique / give a listen to your song...... IMO...bad form when it is so easy to host them for free in many different places on the net.

One key to getting people to do what you want is to keep it as simple as possible....it's true in marketing today & music marketing...when you post something your hope is to get people to listen to what you have to say, or listen to your tune.

When you ask someone to "work" a little by downloading to listen to their song, you are going to lose those who don't gave the time, patience, or know-how to do so....

It is why on web-sites they have the "Click Here" buttons.....

Make it as easy as possible, so people don't have to think....in essence, "Idiot proof" it.........

I voted yes the other day, not read the posts so this may have been mentioned, but to me an added distinction could be made.. Yes I'll click on 'download to play (got fast enough connection), but seldom 'save from some site to play.

I do listen yes, but never open the file without scanning it with AVG first just incase.

I personally prefer to download songs. My mp3 collection is full of great stuff that I've accumulated from here over the years. Some of my favorite songs are people who posted an mp3, lingered a few months without releasing a full album, and then disappeared.

That being said, It's really annoying when somebody hosts their file through some shady sendfilekwik.ru or whatever site. Direct mp3 links, you can click on, download, play, done. Weird services where they try to trick you into installing a "download manager" aren't worth the effort.

I'll download if it's uploaded to the site. If not, then I'll download only from people I trust; regulars here. Otherwise, I'm okay with Soundcloud.
