We all know about size, but do you think the color of the room matters?

I have actually found that I can reach those higher vocal notes in a brighter colored room.

What if you were in a dark room, but under the influence of some shroom tea, and the walls appeared to be a bright color?

If that were the case...

I would most likely be so screwed up that I would sound like Yoko Ono !

Hmm....maybe that's what SHE did!!!

Doesn't sound so strange too me.

Music is art. Art evolves from a state of mind. And the color of a room can definitely effect ones state of mind.

For example, can't you just tell by listening that the skin of gothic industrial music producers is pasty white. :)

Riley and I dosed in a hotel room in Hyannis and she was picking up all kinds of stuff in there. Too many weird scenes in a hotel room I guess. Not a good tripping environment. She kept asking who all the other people were that were there.

We've dosed a couple times at the house and very different experience.......... last time she asked if I saw the deer. I said no, I didn't see the deer. She said she was a creek and they were drinking from her................

She honestly does has life-giving powers.
Are you absolutely certain you're not trippin' right at this very moment?:)

Or maybe I am, because you completely lost me with this one.;) :D

Why is it that when women take acid they get REALLY screwy compared to men. I guess they are already half baked and the acid just finishes them off.

or maybe it's just acid/body weight ratio.

My studio has always been red...... I finally gave it up and painted it taupe, just a week ago...

It was clashing with my natural psychotic behavioural problems,... No shit, and Im not trying to be funny.......

I was having twice as many panic attacks in that room, and my ADD was really bad down there....

I feel much better in the room now that it is a soft earthy tone...

Strange....

I'm not sure about the differences in effects of acid on women versus men, but I'm almost positive that only women should know what the hell "taupe" is!:D:p ;) :D :D :D

I that one in the dictionary!???:D

...just f*ckin' with ya Vox.:D:D :D

taupe adj : having a dusky brownish gray color [syn: fuscous] n : a grayish brown

I was wrong. I guessed something more like a grayish green.

Not so strange, really-- research into the effects of color on psyche have shown that red actually does increase aggression, and presumably the related emotions (irritation, anger, anxiety). This could definitely have had an effect on any neuroses you may have. (BTW, the problems you listed were neuroses, not psychoses--psychosis is much more serious stuff, which is not to discount the severity of neurosis... but I digress.)

I also read that pink calms such aggressive feelings for a while, but that persons kept in "pink rooms" (as at some prisons or mental hospitals, if they still use them) for too long acted like the walls were red, so to speak.

I'm always slightly keyed up or agitated in rooms with bright-ass overhead lights (especially fluorescents). I'll take a few dim light bulbs any day, unless I'm vacuuming or something. Sunlight though doesn't have this effect. I wonder if it's the different spectra of the lights, as opposed to the darkness/lightness of the room per se.

Last bit: You can give a brown-food-colored piece of angel food cake to someone, and it's likely that they'll swear to you it's actually chocolate cake. Blue food coloring in a glass of milk can really screw with someone too.... and what if you bleached some pink noise? :D

Yeah, Taupe is the colour that most computers, monitors and keyboards are....

Maybe a tad more grey, but very very close.....

Yup, I was definately feeling Neurotic! :D

There is an interesting personality test called the Luscher(sp?) Color Test. You pick different colors based on preferance and then you get a profile based on the order of your colors. Me and some friends tried it a few years ago and the results were amazingly accurate.

Damn, that's a depressing test. 90% of the personality descriptions contain words like "disappointment", "depleted vitality", "tension", "anxiety".

Am I really that fucked up?:(

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

my "studio" is very multi-colored. It's white and grey walls in the basement. But then with all the colored lights, strange artwork paintings, way too much used furniture, and the smell of old beer cans, it's easy to hit those highs. And sometimes peoples actually sing down there too! he he he he he

Damn c7. You done brung back some big memories with all that dosing talk. Thanks.

Esactun is totally right about the color theory.........Nice post esact........especially the pink thing, which is very interesting and also very true....However, pink I believe is an odd exception to the general rule and no one really knows why....that's what makes that odd fact so interesting.

Naturally, darker colors calm people down because the nervous system's uncoditioned response is the same to a dark color as it is to when the sun sets and people naturally calm down; preparing themselves for sleep. Whilst the same is true for the opposite.. i.e. Lighter colors, particularly yellow, gives you energy and hope because the nervous system associates the color with the sun and the activities that go along with sun light. -----"Lushcer color theory."

What's interesting about this stuff is that people who are extremely stressed out by nature will naturally prefer darker colors even if they don't know the reason why; ie it calms them.....So the gothic person, who is stereotypically a person suffering mental torment and anguish would naturally prefer dark colors, so maybe they aren't just jumping on the style band wagon afterall :D :D

Moral of the story is that colors effect us.....We see colors for a reasons, they serve us purposes, we don't just see colors because of some envolutionary accident...we see them because they tell us how to act and feel and consequently they help us to adapt :)

Hah..ha........NICE Texroadkill!!!!!!!.......I just realized that you had brought up the Luscher color test........BTW, you did spelt it right I think...I believe that I spelt it wrong above.....Anyhow, since I'm a fine artist or at least I was educated to be one :D, I take that test quite frequently to see where I stand....and you are right it is quite accurate......

and barefoot you probably are that messed up, but that's ok because so am I.....i'm not sure I've ever met anyone who took the test that didn't learn that they had some sort of complex or another :D,

To anyone who is interested: you can take a very abbreviated online version of the test here.... http://www.colorquiz.com/ this test takes about 5 minutes whereas the full test and analysis could literally take hours....The shortened version won't be as accurate but It will probably make some sense.

Your Existing Situation

Unwilling to extend himself or exert undue effort (with the possible exception of sexual activity). Feels that further progress requires more from him than he is willing or able to give. Would prefer reasonable comfort and security rather than the rewards of greater ambition.

Amazingly accurate. I am a lazy ass except when....
