many times, listeners in the clinic cant really go into deep detail about the errors in a mix, so many comments are welcome, exciting, but ultimately not helpful.
You need someone who will sit down and listen to your mix, and concentrate on your mix and put your mix under the microscope so that he can help you see(or hear) the things that you had missed. Then, when you post in the clinic, the mix would be fixed and people will concentrate more on the song (hopefully you were kind enough to put a wildcard in there somewhere)
Rev. E was my first ever "sponsor. Before I ever put my mix in the clinic, he had given me pages and pages of helpful critisicms and tweaks etc on arrangement, voicings, levels, etc (thanks Rev. E)
So I suggest finding a partner with great ears who cares about you enough to spend time on your song and give you the low-down. There are many guys out there, but my personal favorites are Mixmkr, Track rat, and chessrock is coming up as well.
By the way, you are not allowed to use mixmkr. I've got dibs on him as my sponsor(from now on anyway)
