Do you have a sponsor for mixing?

many times, listeners in the clinic cant really go into deep detail about the errors in a mix, so many comments are welcome, exciting, but ultimately not helpful.

You need someone who will sit down and listen to your mix, and concentrate on your mix and put your mix under the microscope so that he can help you see(or hear) the things that you had missed. Then, when you post in the clinic, the mix would be fixed and people will concentrate more on the song (hopefully you were kind enough to put a wildcard in there somewhere)

Rev. E was my first ever "sponsor. Before I ever put my mix in the clinic, he had given me pages and pages of helpful critisicms and tweaks etc on arrangement, voicings, levels, etc (thanks Rev. E)

So I suggest finding a partner with great ears who cares about you enough to spend time on your song and give you the low-down. There are many guys out there, but my personal favorites are Mixmkr, Track rat, and chessrock is coming up as well.

By the way, you are not allowed to use mixmkr. I've got dibs on him as my sponsor(from now on anyway)

So many good ears around here, it's like strolling through a cornfield.
Shucks.

It's a cool idea, to help get things shipshape before launching the boat.

Any takers?

I could use a sponsor.
Anyone feel up to helping my sorry ass out?

Thats a great idea cyan....you named some top dogs too.Track rat and Mixmkr are road dogs from way back and Chessrock knows his shit and has an impressive track record.(I just didnt care for that last song he posted. )

I guess it all boils down to who you can relate to musically/and who's willing to put the time into that sort of thing...I havent met anyone thats willing to put up with my sorry ass to that extent.

Great idea though.

You're never gonna let him live that one down are you?LMAO!:D

I appriciate the honerable mention. I love to listen and help anywhere I can and really like it when folks return the favor and help me on my stuff. Sometimes you just can't see the forest for the trees, ya now what I mean?

Blue Bear I just wanted to say ... keep up those critiques I noticed you doing on some posts in the cliniq. I don't know how you choose them, but your comments are helpfull to others too I think, not just the poster. A lot of people (including myself) can hear that something is wrong but lack expirience to call it or recognise what should be changed.

So keep throwing your weight around dude... :D
I know some might not like it but I think it's very valuable ...
cheers

oh, I remember that litlle exercise.

I also remember that I was one of the few people who liked the original better than any of the "enhanced" versions.

mixMASTER rocked even before I knew who he was. Now you know why I got dibs on the guy.

actually, what I remember was wishing that I would have "entered" a "mastered" version myself to the list, upon listening to the final versions in the contest, and not just have provided a raw track. ....and no... I wouldn't have used T-Racks

I also especially remember all the dickheads that couldn't see (read hear) past a 60 year old singer who had never sang into a mic before and appreciate that fact in that particular recording.
I also remember nothing negative said about the playing I did..... and/or the writing either.
and....I also remember that there was really NO clear winner in that little exersize.

do you consider a fist as an "something inanimate?"

or do we just wanna keep using double edged swords?

the obligatory can be found here------->:D :D :D

ha...betcha tried to click on the "link"....eh??

I just remember that mine had a lot of bass in it. And some cool verb on the train.

And everyone flamed me mercilessly.

Funny how little things actually change over a year or so, huh?
