Do shock mounts improve low end response from a microphone?

Sounds nice, balanced on my 'phones.
How far back are your mics on that one?

..BTW, do we get to hear the horns? :)

The mics are right next to the camcorder. I got there a little late (missed recording the anthem), and I didn't realize that I neglected to raise the mic stand portion and only raised the boom arm until towards the end of the concert. So they were only slightly higher than most peoples heads.

I still don't like the low end. i.e. You can see the bass drum getting hit, but it's not nearly as loud as it should be. Not that cheap PC speakers are a good judge of that. But when the camcorder audio has better low end, you know something isn't right. Or at least how I'd like them to be. I'm sort of half tempted to get an NT4 or something just to see if it makes a difference. But the STO-2's sound good on most things.

Just burned and watched the preliminary DVD (sans menu), and low end isn't too bad... It does seem to be lacking something though. Detail? Low end? $2K-ish of backend should be yielding better results IMO. Plus mics, camcorders, extras, .......

From past experience getting the fake fur as far from the mic element as possible vastly improves things wind noise related.

This is because wind protections is directly related to the volume of still air that you create around the microphone.

The larger the volume of still air, the better the protection.

So - good open foam windshields with the hairy cover over that will give better protection than the hairy cover on its own as the air volume is higher.
