Do outputs always need to be stereo?

Is there a way to change the output on SX1 to be one channel instead of two. For instance, instead of choosing 3/4, or 5/6, is there a way to choose output 3 OR 4? 5 OR 6? In other words, if I have a track play, instead of having it come out on channels 3 and 4, is there a way to make it just come out on channel 3? This would free up my external mixing board channels.

If you don't want it stereo why not just record it mono?

Hard pan to the left of three and four so it's just being sent to output three.

I do record in mono, hence my desire to send one track to one channel, instead of one track to two channels.
Thanks protein - I guess I should clarify and say that I was wondering if there is a way without using a go-around. In other words, if I could change a preference, etc.

Ok - just delink the stereo and drop the right or left to negative infinity? If that is done, then I cant reuse the channels.

For instance, if I take Out1/2 and assign that to Bus1.Now I delink and drop the level on the right. Now if I move to Bus 2 and pick Out1/2 (thinking I could drop the left level), it changes Bus1 to another output. How do I assign one channel to one bus? Thanks for the help

It really is as easy as not setting a single stereo output. go to the vst connections and set up a bunch of mono outputs. Whatever channel you want there, reassign its ouput to the new bus.

I believe you. I guess my problem is that I dont have the VST Connections window. I am reading the manual on page 2-16 and 2-17 but I dont have a "VST Outputs Port" and I cant find a way to get to the VST Connections window. Guess I have to solve that problem and then I can set things up. Sorry for appearing clueless - appears I have another more complex problem. Thanks for the help
