Hi, I want to know how to upgrade my studio and someone told me to buy ART Pro MPA II & ART Pro-VLA II (A pre-amp and a compressor).

Currently,I'm recording thru my eleven rack to my DAW(Pro tools). After, I'm using WAVES plugins(Compressor,etc...).

So I'M asking to myself ? Why should I buy another pre-amp and compressor if Eleven rack DO the pre-amp and Waves compressor are really good.

Thank you !

Hi,
Your eleven rack has preamps so buying the ART would need to be for a reason.
Lower noise floor, imparting more (or less) of a sound on the source, more gain, greater options for impedance, pads, whatever...

With the compressor it's different because you're using software and thinking of buying hardware.
Assuming you'd use the hardware comp on the input path, you'd be committed to your compression.
If you do the perfect take but compress too hard, you're going to have to do the take again.

As you know, this isn't true with plugins. BTW, the avid/protools dyn3 can be really useful. ;)

Whether the art is better than the offerings from waves is going to be totally subjective.

In short you don't need either of these things unless you think you do.
