read the Digidesign site about compatibility with computers. They pretty much line out exactly what you need. I'm a PC guy so I can't say for sure if the iMac works or not with Pro Tools. I think I've heard of some people using it though.

I got a pc a few months ago for recording and it crashes all the time. Im useing nuendo 2. Thats why i want to go to a mac with pro tools
I dont know.
Thanks

but also im using a tascam us-428, and that could be the problem. It might be the drivers
but whatever

what's crashing? Nuendo or Windows? If it's Windows...it's probably not related to Nuendo or your 428. I owned the 428 a few years back and it was a pretty solid piece of gear. What kind of computer are you running too?

If you just got the PC, and it's a pretty decent machine...then try and get that working right first and you should have PT up and running on it in no time. And you won't have to spend almost three grand on a new computer and the 002.

I think you should be fine running PT on an G5 imac with 2 gigs of ram. Right Im using the dual 1.8 G5 with 1 and a quater gigs of ram and its running, no crashes yet. I think you would be very pleased with the macs now a days.

If that's a cracked copy of Nuendo that could be part of the reason why the machine crashes.

Check Digi's compatibility specs to see if your PC meets them. If so you shouldn't have any problems *caused* but the 002 and Pro Tools.

If there is some conflicting stuff going on in the machine, though, you'll have to sort that out before anything will be stable. Did the PC crash often before installing Nuendo?

Anyway, the iMAc G5 checks out with Digi. It'll work.

nuendo is cracked, so that might be the reason.
But my laptop does not have firewire. so that sux. So i think im going with the imac g5

I'm also sorry to say that is the reason why you'll get lettle to no support on this BBS for that configuration. The tolerance for the use of cracked or otherwise stolen software on this board approaches zero.

And no, I have no wish to argue this ancient conflict one way or another. I'm just reporting facts and being the messenger here for you and giving you fair notification that you'll find much more support here if you get legal. :)

OK WHATERVER!! thats not what i was asking. Thats what you think.... and dont worry how i get my software.

That's not what I "think", that's what I KNOW about how this board and it's members operate. It's your choice as to whether to tread further down that road or not, but don't say I didn't try to warn you, my young friend.

OK, sorry I dont even have it anymore.
I got nuendo from a friend. and didnt really even think of if that way. I woulnt steal from any1

Glen is just being honest. most people here don't like to help people who pirated software that's worth $1000+ while the rest of us actually took money out of our own pocket to pay for something that we love doing.

and you answered your own question. Laptop was fine before you put Nuendo on it....laptop crashes after you installed it....

Thanks alot
Im sorry glen if i started off on the wrong foot. Like i said i dont use it, and didnt even really think about it. I will never get coppies like that again from friends.
Im going to pro tools anyways. I just dont want to make any 1 mad.

The Tascam US-428 is absolutely the problem - full stop. I struggled greatly with that unit when I started out a few years ago and now I only use my us-428 as a control surface now. You can stick with your PC and some firewire device. Heck, even an Audiophile 24/96 will do ya.
