Hi to all forum mates,

I have just a pc,a nice sound card, best mic and a DAW the recording software.

I record all my musical tracks outside in other digital studios. Home setup is just
for mixing and balancing my vocals only.

Do I need a mixer or pre amp one at a time or both. What is the main purpose of the
pre amp and the mixer?

I am just bothered and specific to mix up my vocals of high sound quality!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love to all forum mates and may God bless you all.

Preamplifiers are for amplifying the signal from a microphone or other low level audio source to the appropriate level needed by the following stages of the system. If you have already recorded things at a studio you don't need this.

A mixer is for mixing signals together. Often they have multiple preamplifiers built in. Your DAW functions as a mixer for digital files so a hardware one probably isn't needed.

A "sound card" is a device that allows audio input to and output from a computer, usually for casual applications. You might be better served by an "audio interface", but some sound cards are adequate for your application.

You will need good studio monitors and a room without acoustic problems.

I'm a little confused why you have a microphone. If you are able to record at home with your mic then there's a preamp in your signal chain already (many soundcard's incorporate them). If you're NOT able to record with your mic and you want to then you may need to purchase a preamp.

Best to state EXACTLY what gear you have for the most accurate response possible.
