Do i need 2 soundcards?

I have a m audio 24/96 and I have it real basic out the mixer into the soundcard out the sound card into my strero. Is there a way that i can use one sound card and not have to have it where i can't listen to what i am recording at the moment?

You don't need two soundcards. You probably haven't setup your driver patchbay correctly. Check the m-Audio driver control panel and make sure H/W 1&2 is set to "Monitor Mixer".

I changed it to monitor mixer and I wont record any audio.

There is a way to do it without buying another card, you just have to figure out how to do it.
