Do battery-powered condenser mics have line-level output?

I have a pair of Rode NT-3's that I've used with a mixer with phantom power, but I'm looking for something a bit more portable. The Rode's can accept a 9V battery to provide the phantom power, so if I just get an adapter to change the two XLR male plugs into a single 3.5mm stereo plug, then can I just plug it into the line-in jack of my iRiver hard disk recorder, or do I still need a mic preamp?

thanks in advance...

No. It is still mic-level. You will still need a preamp of some sort. I'm not really up on the portable recorders, so I can't say for sure whether you have a built in preamp. If there is one, it probably sucks, so I would just go external either way. Ah, I just looked, you said that you were using the line input. Yeah, you will need a preamp.

:)
