Has anybody here ever built their own speakers?

I'm looking to build a bit larger pair to vibe out on while making music, and compliment my nearfields to give me a bit more of an idea of what's going on in the lows...

any research suggestions...i.e. websites or books?

ATTENTION

I AM AWARE I WONT BE GETTING TOTALLY ACCURATE MONITORING FROM THIS, SO DONT BOTHER TELLING ME THAT

thank you :D

I've never seen any DIY MONITOR stuff (guitar amps, yes, ofcourse)... but it is a little harder (for more top end products) than you think. It involves things such as crosssovers (to "crossover" the frequency to the different speakers), assuming your monitors will have a tweeter and sub, or maybe even a medium (mid) speaker. If you do some research I'm sure it's very possible, and probably fun as well as a good learning experience. If you got the cash, why not?

The DIY thread contains alot of homemade monitor discussion.
