It sounds like you'd want to run it through an eq to dial it in. On the girl it sounded pretty good. On the drums I heard some stuff that I'd want to notch out, a ring on the snare, but that's probably to be expected. I'd try to squeeze as much high, high end as I could out of it. An engineer once told me that the reverb he liked sounded like when water splashes when someone dives in a pool. Or like "AAAaaaahhhh", almost with a hiss. A lot of times I like to zap (roll off) the bottom end and just use the treble on the reverb. The boomy part of reverb isn't very musical.
The plate is 3' x 5'... how thick is it and what does it weigh?
Can you adjust the reverb length on it or is it determined by the plate mass?
When I was in my early 20's I used an EMT but was just getting into recording and didn't really study the unit.
