Does anyone know what the difference is between Type I and II dither?

Much more info in the manual than you could ever get off here. RTFM. :)

Cubase VST 5.1 has similar dithering options, though the manual doesn't say too much:

"Dithering Type
There are no hard and fast rules for the following options, it all depends on the type of mate-rial
you are processing. We recommend that you experiment and let your ears be the final
judge:

Type 1 Try this first, it is the most “all-round” type.
Type 2 This method emphasizes higher frequencies more than Type 1."

Not very specific, eh? But then in Cubase you hear the dithering in real time and can play with the settings to see what sounds best.

You wouldn't believe what happened to TFM if I told you. Same thing that happened to my guitar effects processor. Point is, I no longer have it, which should be assumed since I'm asking TFQ :)

I've played with both but haven't noticed any difference. I sometimes don't hear so good, though.

I have db-audiowares mastering limiter that also have type 1 and type 2 and I have wondered also. Is it safe to assume that the two types is the same dif as in the others?

And no, since I´m asking I have no manual...
