Dirty piano?
I have always been a giant fan of Blind Faith. All six songs.
Anyhow, there's this piano sound that Winwood gets that works just great in a rock setting - kinda round, and real dirty at higher volumes. It's in "Well All Right" and especially "Presence of the Lord". I think some of the rare piano tunes from Cream had the same sound.
Anyone know how this was achieved? I can kind of emulate it with the mdaPiano VSTi thru the B4's dirty Leslie simulator (motor off), but it doesn't quite ring true.
If you're going back to listen, Eric's in the left and Stevie's in the right, most if the time. Also, the guitar-through-a-dirty-Leslie sound that Eric's using seems to contribute to the perceived level of dirt in the piano - The piano's really pretty clean, but the distortion is definitely there.
Thanks.
