I have an AWE 64 Gold soundcard that came with a digital input (I assume it is an input). I also have a Roland VS 1680 that I have synced up with Cakewalk Pro Audio. My CD-R is installed internally in my PC so I can not go directly from the SCSI out on the VS 1680 to my CD-R to burn a CD. What I was wanting to do was mix my midi gear and all of my dital audio through the 1680 to my DAT via the digital out on the 1680 (which works great by the way). Then, I was going to go from the DAT to the digital input on the soundcard and make a stereo wave file to then burn on the CD-R. The problem is, I do not know how to get the digital input to work. I do not even know if it is an input. I can not find any info about it at all in any of the help menus. I do not even see it mentioned anywhere. I can go from the DAT into the audio in jack on the soundcard and record it that way but I was thinking a direct digital line would be much better. How can I do this? Is there another way to get my tunes to the CD-R?

Hi Crow-
This problem can be resolved. There is a unit on the market made by Opcode called a SonicPort Optical. This unit has Optical in/out, as well as analog in/out. It plugs directly into your USB port, bypassing your computer's soundcard and making for a clean, pure digital transfer directly to your computer's hard drive. I own this unit, and I love it.
