Hi all of you!

I'm about to buy a digital mixer for a) home recording AND b) live mixing.
I've never been using a digital mixer so i'd like to ask you how practical they are.
And... what i would be very interested in:
When i have an ADAT-Interface on the Mixer and an ADAT-Interface on the Soundcard, can i record on 8 channels and play on 8 channels at the same time?
Has anybody used the Yamaha 01v? Is it stupid to buy a digital now, is it better to wait a few months?
Is the Yamaha 01v live useable?
How many AUXes(without effects) does Yamaha own?

Thanks a lot for information,
hermste.

I have a DA7, and I can say that with this board, there was a bit of a learning curve for me. But after you get familiar with it a little bit, everything really becomes second nature. What most digital boards do is use a "master knob" for all channels. For example, my board has 32 inputs, but only 7 knobs total (not including preamp gain knobs). 3 for EQ, 1 for pan, 1 for comp/gate, 1 for track delay, and 1 for aux send. The knob you twiddle only affects the channel that is 'selected' at the time. That could probably be a little cumbersome in a live setting. Also, while this is a 32 channel board, it only has 16 analog channel inputs. Everything else is input through lightpipe, TDIF, AES/EBU or s/pdif depending on the option cards you get. I could get an 8 channel A/D/A converter card if I wanted to spend the money, I suppose.
I guess I would stick with an analog board for live sound. But for studio stuff, no way I'll ever part with this one ... it's just too good.
:)
Anyway, hope that helps.
