digital from pod pro to aw2816

I'm trlying to run from the SDIF out on the pod to the stereo digital in on the 2816. I get a digital sync error. I have the pod switch on 44.1k, which is the same for the song. I get sound coming through but it sounds worse than when I used the analog outs. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Never used the POD pro, but the Line 6 website has a pretty cool forum where you can find help for this. You can email a tech there too.
