Digidelay kicked it.....gimme recommendations.

I was always basically happy with my Digitech Digidelay. I don't use any extravagant delay effects, just a simple set and forget for lead guitar tones.

Last night the thing just refused to work anymore. I've since convinced myself that I never even liked the damn thing that much to begin with and I want to get something different.

Anybody ever done a comparison between this and any other delay pedal?

I'm going to default to the Boss DD-3 unless somebody has a good recommendation that I haven't considered. Anybody?
 
I recently got a Line 6 (yeah, yeah, boo..hiss.. I know) ToneCore Echo Park, which I'm happy with. It's got tons of options and a tap-tempo which is nice. It's models are taken from the DL4 modeling delay which a lot of people seem to like.

They go for around $150, but the reason I got it is that right now if you buy a ToneCore pedal and send in the UPC, a copy of the receipt and this form you can get online, they'll mail you the Tonecore module of your choice (the actual pedal is a "dock" and you can yank the Echo guts and stick in a Distortion guts or a Rotory simulator guts or whatever) for free.

One catch is that since the modules don't all cost the same, if you buy the cheapest pedal in the line you can only choose one of the cheapest modules, but since the Echo Park is the most expensive (along w/ Verbzilla), if you buy it you can choose whichever one you want.
 
I've always been happy with my Line 6 DL4, but that's a lot more than you're after I think. The DD-3 is nice (as is I imagine the Echo Park), but if you can possibly manage to find one, you might want to get a DD-5 instead. They're not making them any more so you would have to get it used, but it's basically a DD-3 with a jack for an external tap-tempo switch. The problem with the tap-temp system on the DD-6 and I think the Echo Park is that you have to hold the pedal down for a bit to set it in tap mode, tap the tempo, and then hold it to switch back, which is very inconvenient. The external tap switch doesn't have that problem.

If you never ever change your tempo setting, you can't go wrong with a DD-3
 
I've played w/ a DD-3 my friend had and it was a pain in the ass to do the tap-tempo on it, I agree.

The Echo Park tap tempo doesn't work like the BOSS ones, with the holding it down to switch modes and such. With the EP you have to put a pretty hefty amount of weight on the pedal to click it on and off, but if you just press it down "normally" it takes that as a "tap" for the tempo. It's a better system.
 
i've recently purchased a DD3 and i LOVE it....eats batteries like a motherfucker, but i love the sound!
 
All delay pedals are gonna eat batteries. DD3 gets my vote..though if ya want some priistine delay I'd go rackk-effect.
