well we just installed 6.1 and the DIgi02. Got Protools up and running for a minute(with no input from the digi02 yet). Now when we try and run protools I get this message

"Pro Tools LE Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

it looks like a windows error and not protools.

I have re installed...checked the device mangr and the dig02 is set up right...

any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks-Shawn

This looks like a job for.....

Tech Support!!

This kind of general, catastophic error is why tech support exists. If you bought that 002 new, you paid for that tech support so I'd take advantage of it.

I don't even have any idea of how to begin solving a problem that hits right when the program starts. Hopefully, they'll have some wisdom to share...

Good luck,
Chris

I agree it sounds like a job for Tech Support. However, before you call them...here's a few general ideas. Tech Support will undoubtedly ask about these.

1. Make sure your machine meets all Digi002 hardware compatibilities. These can be found on the Digidesign web site at http://www.digidesign.com/compato/xp/002/

2. In the Pro Tools "Getting Started" or "Upgrading...." manual, there is a list of Windows configuration settings. Some are required and others are suggested. I've installed a Digi002 Rack a couple times and a Digi001 three times and never had a problem. Each time I have faithfully followed each requirement or suggestion.

3. Also, make sure you don't have any unecessary progams or services running when you run Pro Tools.

4. I would also suggest that you install all available Service Packs for Windows.

Hope this helps....

Jay
