 im trying to find out once and for all whether or not the Digi 002 mixer/controller works functionally with Digital Performer 4.5. any insight would be appreciated!

stevo

Probably not, since Digidesign is all about their proprietary hardware/software combinations.

no, it doesn't. only with pro tools, and only with LE (i think). any other audio interface and/or controller should work with DP though.

sigh
:(

come on guys. please research your answers if you don't know anything about the hardware you're talking about.

info on the coreaudio driver:
http://digidesign.com/download/coreaudio/

The following third-party CoreAudio-compatible client applications have been tested with the Digidesign CoreAudio Driver v6.9:

Ableton Live 3.0.x
Apple DVD Player v4.0
Apple FinalCut Pro v4.5
Apple Garage Band 1.1
Apple iTunes 4.5
Apple QuickTime 6.5.1
Bias Peak v4.1
Celemony Melodyne v2.5
Emagic Logic Audio Pro 6.4.1
Mark of the Unicorn Digital Performer 4.1.2
Native Instruments FM 7 v1.1.2
Native Instruments Absynth 2.0.4
Propellerhead Reason Adapted
Propellerhead Reason v2.5
Propellerhead ReCycle v2.1
RealOne v9.0
Roxio Jam v6.0
Roxio Toast v6.0
Steinberg Cubase SX v1.0.52
Windows Media Player v7.1.3

i thought he was talking about the controller aspect of the 002. this does not work with anything other than protools le.

Digidesign says it's been tested with DP 4.1.2 and you are running 4.5 (presumably 4.5.2). So, technically, I guess it hasn't been tested against your version of DP or the newest MOTU release, DP 4.6. It also looks like the answer could depnd on your OS. I'm assuming your using or planing to use a Mac, since--the last time I looked--DP won't run on windows. If I read their site correctly, Digidesign has not yet released a Tiger-based standalone installer for the Digidesign CoreAudio Driver.

Are you looking for an interface to work with DP?

For clarity's sake:

The CONTROLLER aspect of the 002 doesn't work with anything else.

Take care,
Chris

but does the mixing (live multitracking) aspect?

are you asking if the 002 will still act as a standalone mixer...or if it will work as a multitrack audio interface with other programs still???

yes for both, if that's the case.
