I have been working with garageband and have been making some decent recordings. I have an emac with sufficient processing power and a 12 channel makie mixer. I have good mics (i think); 2 sm58s a 57 a pg kick mic and a ber condenser. I am looking to upgrade to protools and I thought that the Digi 002 looked like a good choice. I am wondering though if it will be much better than my current set up..

thanks,

James.

If you think you feel limited by your software/hardware, then an upgrade might be good for you.

If you're happy using what you have already, I'd think more about an expensive upgrade like that.

If you go the 002 route, I'd suggest the 002 Rack. I think it would fit in better with your current setup.

If you haven't already, check out some of the M-Audio interfaces for use with Pro Tools M-Powered.

Just make sure you check your computer specs with Digi's recommendations. Pro Tools is pretty specific on what OS verions it will run on.

If you want protools I would go with M-audio stuff. You have to by the software and hardware seperate but it can be less expensive.

If you want a control surface... I'd buy the 002 RACK and some other control surface. The 002 control surface will ONLY work with Pro Tools while just about anything else you buy (except the Command 8...) will be more flexible.

That what I would have done if the 002 rack existed when I upgraded to Pro Tools. ;)

Take care,
Chris

You call pro tools an upgrade? :p  :D
