Hey guys,
Recently upgraded from mbox2 to a digi 002, and i got the ADA8000 with it. but it seems i've run into a poblem

I have the inputs/outputs set up BUT i'm not getting any signal coming through the ADA8000, the LED shows there is a signal clipping through BUT there isn't any sound coming out of PT. any help?

I have the ADAT input 1 selected with a SM-57 plugged in, and no sound. this is a total bummer, i have the output (adat port) of the ADA8000 connected to the in of the digi 002 and the output of the digi 002 to the in of the ADA8000 please help me guys!

have you tried setting the ada8000 up as the slave or whatever it is. You actually have to go into the software and tell ptle to recognize the ada8000. If you need more help go to duc.digidesign.com and ask for help there.

Yeaaaaah no ProTools help here! HAHAHAHAHA

And I don't know why, haha

Make sure the sample rate switch on the back of the ADA8000 is set to the same sample rate of your Pro Tools Session.

You need to set up your ADA8000 in the Hardware window under the Setup Menu in Pro Tools LE.

1. Set your Clock Source to "Optical"
2. Make sure your optical format is set to ADAT

That should do it.
Here are some pics to help you.

Wouldn't you want the ADA8000 to sync off the Digi 002? I know I would.

Make sure that the ADA8000 is set to "slave" and "ADAT In". You do this with the switch on the rear panel.

Then go to the ProTools window that Goodland took pictures of and set the 002 to "internal".

Double check the ADAT cables to make sure they are going to right places.

That *should* work.

Yes, that is a much better way of doing it. Either way would work, but SonicAlbert's method would be much better. My Bad:rolleyes:

thanks guys, but neither of those things work, i've returned the ADA8000 and got another one because i believe the optical port was bad on the first one. and this one, the session is 44.1 and everything is set normally when i go to change the clock to ADAT it says that the external clock is invalid and reverts back to internal.

and when i tried to do the slave as the ADA8000 and the 002 as the master i still get no signal coming through. Even my buddy who has done this same set up at one point doesn't know whats wrong. :(

Have you checked your lightpipe cables? I've had a cable or two where the lens on the end gets cracked and it won't work properly.

It's quite possible you could have two malfunctioning ADA8000's in a row. A manufacturing batch could have gone wrong. If the serial numbers are similar that might be a possibility.

The next thing to do is get your friend who has a setup that's working to bring his ADA8000 over and see if it works with your 002.

It sounds like a bad cable to me. Lightpipe cables are fragile.
