Different sample rates in a session?

I was working in a friend's project, and i tried recording in 96 Khz/24 bits, but it seemed to overload my PC so id like to record the remaining parts in 44/24 so i can work more smoothly,
I don't hear that much diference in sound quality, so my question is: do i have to make an import / export files thing, or can I just change the settings and go on recording in the same session?

Ugh... You're already at a video rate - Probably best to resample the existing files to another video rate (48kHz).

You won't hear a difference (between 48 & 96kHz). SO few mics are capable of capturing the sources (*IF* that source actually creates sound above 24kHz in the first place), so few pieces of gear are able to process it, so few amplifiers put it out, so few speakers can reproduce it, no humans can hear it --- If you hear a difference, something is probably wrong with your converters.

That said -- On this one tune (or is it the entire project...?) I'd resample to 48kHz just to keep the math simple and avoid any goofiness from going from a video rate to an audio rate.

And next time, stick with audio rates. 44.1kHz being the most popular by a long, long, long shot. 88.2kHz if the client absolutely insists on high-res.

THAT said -- If there's still much to do and your resampling algorithm is up to the task, then go ahead and bring 'em down to 44.1kHz. If you don't hear *much of* a difference, go to another video rate (that "not much of" will add up). If you don't hear *any* difference, then slap it down to 44.1 and be done with it so you can avoid the goofy-math later.

I never bother with anything higher than 44.1k. I was handed some stuff in 48k and decided to just work at that sample rate, the only difference I noticed was the amount of hard drive space it ate up.
