Ummm....

Because I just bought a V67M, and I wanted to know something about it... The insanity has stoped.

I believe the only notable difference is the color... it also comes in silver.

My first reply was a bit harsh...mostly 'cause I was tired of hearing that same question asked. I'm surprised you haven't seen any of the other posts relating to the same thing.

I did get some sleep, though....good thing, too. I've been sick since Thursday.

I just got my V67G in the mail today, and I must say that it's the ugliest microphone I've ever seen. I only hope the sound lives up to the hype!

So to answer the the thread question: The V67G is uglier.

I'll make it unanimous and say that the V67G is the ugliest green and gold thing I've seen since the transparent green Les paul with gold hardware! Yeucchhh!

It's even uglier than Frank's kid who looks like she can't fathom the evil of whoever's not sharing their happy meal with her! :D

Well I got the V67M today. I *sniffed* it and the box, and found NO smell of smoke. It came with a silica bag in the box, so I don't think anything bad happend to it. This is my FIRST condensor mic. I still don't know how it sounds, I only used it with my electric guitar w/ out an amp, just to get a general idea. I have some experimenting to do...

The only problem is that the shock mount's felt padding just cam off when I tried to put the mic in. Damn, I guess it's time to get crazy with some krazy glue. Ha, ha :D.

--Do all condensor mikes, when bought Brand-New, come with silica bags??? Just wondering...

Tech 21 SansAmp Bass Driver DI. Auction ends soon! Hurry!! :) ;) :)

I got my 'uglier than sin' V67G today as well.

It had the silica-gel for moisture absorption - so does most electronics equipment when packaged.

I also got the shock-mount, and found that it was just a little too narrow to get the mic in with the felt - maybe its for one of the other MXL mics like the 2001 which looks a little narrower. The felt ripped it out despite my trying many times to spread the clamp large enough to get the mic in. Im a little worried I'll scratch the mic when putting it in or taking it out - however how much uglier could it get? Nevermind, atleast the 24k gold plated sreen won't corrode - more likely to flake off!

I haven't had much of a chance to record, but it sounded really nice when monitoring.

I told my wife its ideal for her vocals, so she sort of thinks its a gift for her (yea right I wish).

Oh Shit....

....I don't jack about this mic but GETUHGRIP's post almost made me spit soda all over the screen!!

And it's almost funnier that Frank never paid it or everyone's avatar question any mind.....I'm easily amused.

Anyway good luck with the new mic Frank. I don't own the 603 but I'm going to soon. A friend of mine is an indepenant engineer and does a lot of work at a particularly large local studio.

He lets me tag along and do the dirty work to gain more experience. At this studio, they own some nice mics...nuemann, royer, bang & ohlfson (spelling), bell, and more and they still use the 603 quite often on acoustic guitar and other things as well.

Take it for what it's worth but I think that's a testement to mic!

Frank,

You'll need to paint your V67M when you get it, because it probably won't be ugly enough in basic matte black. In fact, it might look as good as it sounds. Did you buy the MXL-57 shockmount?

Apple green fingernail polish will work especially well on the body, but getting the grill gold-toned without spraying the capsule could be a problem. Better just to dip it in glitter for now.

You guys don't think the AKG C12VR is ugly, do you?

OK, what's an "avatar"? I feel left out.

Mark H.

An avatar is my "monkey". Ha, ha.

Personally I think the V67g looks better then my V67m. I like the gold and green. It looks so much like the C12.

Oh, and the 57 shock mount came with it.

Wow! Good deal!

Thanks for telling me about your avatar. Sorry I asked. (Just kidding.)
