Did I make a mistake? (Rode NT1-a)

I was lurking at Guitar Center today while they have a Green Tag sale on and asked if it applied to a Rode NT1-a, listed at $199. (which it always is). The guy said no, but when I asked the best he could do on one he said $175.

I said $150, but the manager said no -- "that's what we pay for them..." So I walked.

Even so, I would love to own a mic with a 5db self-noise, and I've heard good things about the NT1a (not the NT1). Should I have spent the $175?

I don't think you made a mistake. It's up to you to pay the price you think is fair. What other mics do you have?

so what else interesting did you see at GC today?

Not a whole lot actually. What I was looking for was a table top wedge shaped thingy to support my HD recorder at an angle, yet with a lot of stability... No luck.

Maybe a keyboard stand would work for your recorder... besides your B1, what other mic's do you have ?

I think a sturdy keyboard stand may be the ticket... I have a pair of Studio Projects B1's and a Behringer (XM7000?) dynamic for use with my microKorg when doing Vocoding...
