Did I just buy a girl's guitar?

By that logic, we should be calling the man who recorded "Rock 'n Roll, Part 2," Gary METALFLAKE? Uh, I don't think so...

That's just a name. When referring to paint or finish, it's metalflake.

Still, "Gary Metalflake" just doesn't work for me. Maybe he should change his first name to Mike...

I needed a classical guitar for 2 cuts on my first album, and I got a good price on a used Epi Selena signature with the rose on it, and a straight neck. The price had come down because no one wanted it, being a "girly" guitar. That's one of the things about recording- it's not a fashion show. No one except the engineer will ever see that axe, and the mic doesn't care what color it is. Just play it and stop worrying about how you look. And- Hendrix actually played lots of guitars. I was shocked when I saw a picture of him with a Les Paul. He was, however, known for playing a series of right-handed, left-strung white strats. He needed a lot of them because of his tendency to set them on fire at the end of the show.-Richie
