Any recommendations as far as product or manufacturer?

I would like our band to record live, but keep the tone using the amps we have. Will a DI box allow us to record live without affecting the drummer and his mics in the same room (mic bleeding)? In other words, will the speakers in our amps be inoperative using the DI box directly into the mixing board and back to us via headphones?

I'm hoping to record our amps without the speakers making any noise in the studio except thru our headphones.

Do you mean you want to run line outs from the amp heads, bypassing the speakers, direct to a console whilst using mics to record the drums and vocals?
If Y you will have to check each individual amp to see if it has a line out that delivers what you require; that the line out will cancel the signal to the speakers; that any tube/valve amp you have has a dummy load available; that the drum mics don't pickup bleed from the vocalist; that the tones from the amp heads sound like what you want when there's no cabinet in the equations
and finally that you have a big and good enough h/phone amp and all have headphones so you can hear what your playing.
Then you may be able to do what you want.
If N sorry I'm even less use.

Use the DI to tapp off the direct signal from the guitar, clean while also sending your guitars to their amps for your own monitoring convenience. You can then later use the direct sound you recorded to reamp into whatever amp you decide later, without the pressure of everyone waiting on you so that you can get the best tone possible

Live you are out of luck totally isolating the drummer but you'll do ok using cardoid and hyper cardoid mics. Close mic the amps also to minimize the room sounds.

In the studio you can put the drummer in another room.

I use Radial passive DI's and they work pretty well but I use them to match impedances so I can run acoustics and the bass directly through the PA live.

Just to reiterate...if you are using a tube amp DO NOT run it without some kind of load (speakers or a dummy load).

I'll throw in that if you don't have a line out or anything on the amp, the effects loop send will work most of the time.

You could use a speaker emulator. Something like a Palmer PDI-03 places an 8 ohm load onto your amp without the need for speakers at all. Sounds good too.

Cheers
