I am wondering what multi-effects unit (relativley cheap, under $200) would make a good DI recording unit, the RP50 was suggested to me (thanks apl) and I have tried the Zoom PFX-9003 any thoughts on these or other effects units?

Have any music stores nearby? Stop in and try them out.

I ended with a Behringer V-Amp pedal for $70, I though it was an easier interface than the DigiTechs and it sounds better to my ears. I used to own a Zoom and it was too noisy.

If you have the $150 or so for the regular V-Amp it's got an even better interface and more features, too.

Thanks for that tip, Anyone else have any opinions on the Behringer V-amp and or pedal

The best DI pedal known to me is the Korg ToneWorks FX pedal. This is a discontinued item in a small stainless steel finished box. I still have mine and it beats the shit out of every pedel I have (and the ones I have tried/heard).
This thing sounds just like an amped cabinet with the "sound of power" that is missing in all the things I have recorded. I have the RP3 and it stomps the sounds on that.

Look for one used. Scour the GCs and used music shops. If you are really interested, I can get you the exact model # from home. Used, it should be about $100. But, it is so good sounding you will love it forever.

PS: It also has the best delays and autowah sounds out there to boot.

This is the item here:Find this SOMEHERE, you WILL love the sound.

I know where you can get ahold of a used one of those Korg boxes. There is a guitar shop in Wichita, Kansas, called E.M. Short's. They had one in stock this summer for about 40 bucks (but there was no manual, box, etc.). I am sure that if you really want it they can ship it to you for a little extra money, and I'll bet they still have it in. They are online at www.wichitaband.com.

Thanks. I just found one on eBay for $25 starting price so I bid on it.
