Looks like a nice clean amp, cosmetically at least! :confused:

Sanyo was never really considered Hi-Fi or audiophile but, if it sounds good to you then that's all that matters.

Yeah, sounds really robust and clean but the only other amp I have to compare it to is my 10 year old Sony STR ... something ... receiver. The Sanyo is better sounding and looks nicer too! ;) :)

As an authorized Sony of Canada retailer, I can relate to that experience.

Sony Receivers, unless your buying the top of the line ES series stuff will tend to be pretty gutless amps and it's due to cheap power supplies with virtually no headroom at all to go above rated specs.

I own a Sony STR-DA777ES receiver which is a $3500.00 piece and it kicks ass with authority and ease but their regular stuff is built to fit a price point only.

I'm sure a discrete output Sanyo of an older vintage like yours would sound better but, I doubt it would compete with my Adcom GFA555, 200 wpc power amp which peaks at 325 watts into 8 ohms and 400 watts into 4 ohm. It is a true power house that sounds incredible! :cool:

Regardless of your status with Teac, have you tried asking them if they would sell the 34B direct to you ?? That would save you the dealer's mark-ups .. and you know how much that is! ;) Wouldn't hurt to ask.

True, it wouldn't hurt to ask but, I already know the answer as I've asked in the past already.

No dice, is the response.

They have a protected dealer network and it's territorially placed and protected so that guys like me can't steal deals from authorized dealers who spent the money to put the stock on their floors.

If I dropped a hundred grand on inventory to put on my store's floor, I would expect the same protection.
